Mark Salvestro
ACTOR | WRITER | PRODUCER

Hi, I'm Mark! I'm an actor, writer and producer based in Sydney, having spent 20 or so years living and working in Melbourne, Canberra, and Cooma in southeast NSW.
I create text-based theatre works, often exploring queer life, regional living, history, and themes of coming of age.
Most recently, I've been working on a three-hander play called 'The Queen's City of the South', which is inspired by the history of the Cooma Gaol and its use as a 'gay prison' from 1957-1984.
Since premiering the play at Qtopia Sydney in 2024, I'm preparing the show for a regional tour and adapting it into a TV series.
My previous solo works have been performed in both metro and regional communities, and have had some pretty nice things said about them. In fact, ‘The Will To Be’ won a Best Theatre Weekly Award at Adelaide Fringe 2020.
